Hidden Gems Social Media Campaign for Trax Launch

The newest member of the Chevrolet family will get one of the most modern introductions ever.

The newest member of the Chevrolet family will get one of the most modern introductions ever. The 2015 Chevrolet Trax, a small SUV, will be the focus of a marketing campaign that utilizes the best of social media. The campaign, nicknamed Hidden Gems, is aimed at creating buzz for the arrival of the long-awaited Trax.

Although the 2015 Chevrolet Trax is the impetus for the campaign, the focus is on unique city experiences. Three long-form videos will focus on in-depth looks at the hidden cultural gems of Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. Style Girlfriend blogger Megan Collins will host meet-and-greets with top city influencers.

Twenty well-known bloggers will follow their own itinerary that highlights the unusual side of their hometown. Whether it’s a visit to a distillery, trampoline training or a live entertainment event, content will be blogged live throughout each one-night experience behind the wheel of a Trax. In addition to social networks such as Twitter and Instagram, the content will be posted to an online hub, Hidden Gems in the City.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax is a logical SUV for urban discovery, explained Steve Majoros, Chevrolet’s marketing director. The four-door, five-passenger Trax offers SUV capability with a car-like maneuverability that is necessary in urban environments. A tight turning circle ensures that this small SUV can maneuver in crowded city spaces. Yet it is long enough to handle a surfboard when the seats are down.

With both a split-fold second row and a fold-flat front passenger seat, the compact SUV offers eight configurations of cargo/passengers. The large cargo hold offers 18.7 cubic feet, which is quite a bit bigger than rival Nissan Juke’s 10.5 cubic feet. The storage area under the cargo floor adds more space and a measure of safety. The Trax also leads its segment in interior storage compartments.

Chevrolet wanted to create a vehicle with a huge capability but a small footprint, according to GM Vice President Alan Batey. For that, fuel economy was a key aspect in the development of this SUV. The Trax gets 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The turbocharged engine is designed to maximize power while minimizing fuel use. For extra acceleration when it counts, the powertrain delivers solid torque across a wide band. The small SUV also offers an affordable all-wheel drive option, making it even more versatile.

The Hidden Gems campaign was developed, in part, to reflect Chevrolet’s leadership in Wi-Fi connectivity. Regardless of sticker price, every Chevrolet today offers a built-in hotspot. The 2015 Trax offers OnStar 4G LTE, which makes it easy for passengers to utilize smart devices.

The Trax features a 7-inch touchscreen as the anchor of its modern dashboard. Chevy MyLink smartphone apps and Bluetooth are also standard. With Apple iphone integration, drivers can access Siri Eyes Free. As part of the SUV’s emphasis on budget pricing, Chevy offers BringGo. This GPS-capable downloadable navigation program is recognized as the most affordable system on the market.

The 2015 Trax already has been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it received the top score of five stars. Unlike the typical SUV with six airbags, the Trax has ten airbags on board. It also offers OnStar’s emergency crash notification system. The standard rearview camera makes reverse maneuvers safer.

The 2015 Trax arrived in showrooms this winter. The Hidden Gems campaign, which began February 28, will continue through the summer.
