How To Protect Your Hearing When Enjoying A Live Music Event

It is impossible to attend a music concert without loud music, but I've got your back. Protect your ears with this way

For many, loud music is a part of the concert thrill, but for some, it can be a pain in the neck when it harms their ears. When I was on a vacation to Melbourne with my work team, we were so hung up about finding Melbourne entertainment venues because we wanted to enjoy our vacation with best music bands in town that we forgot to protect our ears from loud music. Luckily, we found a way to protect our ears from loud music during our live music experience there and I’m going to share it with you in this article. Keep reading to learn more!

Choose your seat carefully

This is the most important part, really. Consider seat proximity to speakers when choosing your spot. Try to site at a reasonable distance from the stage and array of loud speakers. Front row seats may offer you the best view and experience from up close, but it can be the worst place for your ears especially if you stand near the loud speakers.

Don’t bring your kids

If you are watching a classical music concert, it is still safe to bring your kids (but you still have to choose the best seat for them). However, if you are attending a live music concert that has pop, rock or metal music performances in it, it is better for you to keep your kids at home. Children's ears are especially susceptible to loud noise and a particularly loud concert can even cause damage.

Use hearing protection

I know you are attending a live music concert to enjoy music, but hearing protection can be helpful for you to protect you from suffering tinnitus or damaging your hearing. Use noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs when attending a loud concert. Don’t worry; you can still enjoy the music even if you are wearing hearing protection.

Check the levels

Apps like dB Volume Meter and DeciBEL enable you to check volume levels at concerts. If the level is over 90db, move to a quieter area and find the best spot for you so you can enjoy both the concert view and the music without problem.

Take a break

Even though you are attending a live music concert to enjoy the show, sometimes it can be tiring for you due to how the loud music sounds to your ears. It is totally okay to take a break from time to time. Try to limit your exposure. Even a 1-minute break from the action can give your ears a rest and help prevent hearing damage.

That’s what we did back then to prevent us from damaging our ears during our journey to the live music experiences in Melbourne. If you know how to enjoy live music without damaging your ears, you will not only create beautiful memories of your live music experiences, but the memories you create are also the unforgettable ones. Know how to enjoy but be smart not to ruin your precious moments. Bringing earplugs can also help you have good time without problems.
