Walk on Water

Have you ever dreamt of walking on water? Well, Vivid Sydney offers you the chance to enjoy this superpower for a short period of time. No,we are not talking about walking on it when it freezes. Ephemeral Oceanic, an installation on the waters near Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, designed by Atelier Sisu, will grant the visitors the opportunity to walk out on a specially constructed jetty that weaves between over 150 illuminated spheres which resemble bubbles! The ethereal quality of bubbles and the quality of dichroic filters causes a rainbow of reflection on the water, offering unique photo ops from every possible angle. This creative work appeals to our childlike senses as they create an almost dancing of light with a unique soundscape and changing properties of these illuminated orbs. If only for a short time, you will transcend to a whole new world of reality! Don’t miss it!

Get Inspired by the Global Storytellers

Sydneysiders have been constantly getting inspired by the nation's finest thinking machines but for the past two years this was hindered. Now we can once again welcome back the international visitors and Vivid is fully taking advantage of it by importing various creative speakers under the banner of Global Storytellers. One of the headliners of the event will be Hollywood’s Oscar winning director /screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, known for his blockbusters, A Few Good Men, The West Wing, Social Network and The Newsroom, amongst many others. He will join forces with Australia’s Leigh Sales and share his perception on combining politics and drama at Sydney’s State Theatre. Also sharing the limelight elsewhere will be Gretchen Carlson, a fearless advocate of women’s rights, who will share her takes on violence, sexual abuse and misogyny. Gretchen has inspired millions over the world and has laid the foundation for the #MeToo movement and her story is now immortalised in the movie Bombshell.
