Australia is a naturally tough but exceptionally diverse land with some breathtaking trails. That’s the reason why it is one of the favourite destinations for cyclists from all over the world. But here, we are specifically talking about its capital city, Sydney. The city has so much to offer along with some world-class cycling routes that are visited by riders from all over the world every year. So, if you are a cycling enthusiast, these places definitely deserve your attention. Here are some sites in and around Sydney that are perfect to pedal through:
● Sydney: Sydney has one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Don’t believe us? You can always cycle alongside its azure blue waters. Located on the Inner West side of the city, it is one of the most popular bike tracks where you can see many Ortlieb, Birdy Rohloff bikes, etc every weekend. You can visit the Bay Run where you will find riders, walkers, joggers, and rowers from all age groups. It is a 7-kilometre loop ride (4.3 miles). But if you are in Sydney East, you can always visit the Centennial Park which is visited by 700, 000 riders per year. It is a closed-loop stretching 2.3 miles distance and is a fun place for family adventures.
● Burns To Byron Beach Ride: This one is located an hour’s flight from Sydney and is both famous and beautiful. The place is known for its evergreen sunshine that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. It is one of those few places where the number of cycles exceeds the total number of cars. Whenever you are there just head west to the rolling green hills and you can pedal along with the Bruns to Byron Beach ride. It is a 13-kilometre stretch that starts at the Brunswick Heads Visitor Centre and then ends at the main Byron beach.
● Royal National Park: This place is the cycling mecca of Australia. And can easily be reached from an hour's flight from Sydney. The place offers a 70-kilometre long cycling trail that snakes through some of the oldest natural sceneries of Australia. If you are looking for a mountain biking experience, the place offers a 10-kilometre stretch. But make sure you have some experience and skill to tread through rough patches because this path will test all your skills and experience in a hard way.
● The Southern Highlands: A special place, it is full of unspoilt bushland, rolling hills, and amazing wildlife diversity. Located halfway between Sydney and Canberra, it is just a 1.5 hours car ride distance from either city.
● Kosciuszko National Park: A snow mountain, it has a wide network of roads that connect every corner of Kosciuszko National Park. Known for being the highest peak in Australia, it has some high peaks and challenging descents. However, the park is open for riders only during warmer months so make sure you plan your trip accordingly.
