Bucket List Bonanza: Destinations To Visit Before You Die 1

Here are five rare, unique and luxurious holiday destinations that you should add to your travel bucket list.

Seeking a rare, unique and luxurious holiday this year that you can check off your destination bucket list? Let me share with you five options that would make anyone’s trip one to remember.

The Grand Canyon

Over two billion years, the Colorado River has carved its way through the Grand Canyon. In doing so it has created one of the natural wonders of the world. I recommend experiencing it from water level on an intimate rafting trip through the canyon; that’s by far the best way to see the geology, side canyons, ancient Native American pueblos, swimming holes and plenty of sandy beaches up-close.

Everest Base Camp

The excursion to the Everest Base Camp is an incredible 14-day experience to the foot of the world’s tallest mountain – words cannot describe the views of the Himalayas! Spending time at the iconic camp is a real treat, and you may even have a chance to speak to some climbers making final preparations to start their push to reach the mountain’s summit.

Machu Picchu

While many take the train up to Machu Picchu, I believe the far more satisfying option is to walk. This secret city, built into the mountains, is a bucket list “must”, and should be experienced as such! There are plenty of trails to choose from, but the Inca Trail is the classic option. For more adventurous travellers, the Vilcabamba Trek is your best bet.

NamibRand

Namibia’s enormous NamibRand Nature Reserve is one of a handful of gold-certified Dark Sky Reserves, which means that it has some of the planet’s darkest skies. Since there aren’t any nearby towns, and because there’s no sky pollution and the climate is dry, cloudless skies are the norm, making the reserve an incredible place to experience some of the best celestial sites. During the day, there are plenty of dunes, mountains, and other natural sites to explore as well, complete with oryx, zebras and plenty of other animals!

The Amazon

The Amazon is a place unlike any other: it is the largest rainforest in the world and contains more than half of all known species of animals, plants, and insects known to man. Seeing some of them in person is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Visiting an Amazonian tribe in Ecuador is the perfect way to gain an authentic insight into how local people have lived there for centuries. They have so much on offer, including canoeing, piranha fishing, sleeping in traditional thatched huts and even trekking into the rainforest with local guides.

An Expert Tip

Whenever you go on holiday to a unique destination, be sure not to forget to invest in single trip travel insurance beforehand! I find it always best to stay safely covered, just in case something happens.
