Ganesh Himal is the sub-range of the Himalayas located mostly in North-central Nepal, but some peaks lie on the border with Tibet as well. Trisuli Gandaki Valley at the east side separates Ganesh Himal from the Langtang Himal while Budhi Gandaki Valley plus Shyar Khola Valley at the west side separates it from the Mansiri and Sringi Himal. The highest peak in the Ganesh Himal range is Yangra {Ganesh I}, 7,429 m (24,350 ft). There are 3 other peaks of above 7000m and about 14 other peaks of above 6000m. Ganesh Himal was first climbed long time back in 1955 by the Swiss and French team of guides.

Ganesh Himal region got its name from the Hindu God Ganesha who has the face of an elephant and the body of a human. Truly, there is the slight resemblance of the south face of Ganesh IV Himal to the elephant and its ridge similar to the elephant’s trunk. 

The Ganesh Himal region lies next to the Kathmandu valley on the Northwest direction. Ganesh Himal is located in between the Dhading and Gorkha districts. Ganesh Himal region trekking lies between Langtang region trekking and Manaslu region trekking. The Annapurna massif is in the west. This region is not as secret anymore as it used to be, that tourists have already known about this region and been eyeing their next adventures in and around Ganesh Himal.
