Get Back To Nature At Corralejo Natural Park, Fuerteventura

After landing on the sunny isle, and taking airport transfers, Fuerteventura visitors usually head straight for the beach. But there is so much more to see and do that makes a visit to this paradise isle a truly captivating and special trip for families to take together. The island is visually stunning, with colour and geography unlike anywhere else on earth, and a climate that has shaped the environment in a unique way. It’s home to an important UNESCO biosphere reserve and visitors can take a trip to the exquisite Corralejo Natural Park where they can see the natural wonder of this beautiful place in all its glory.

Dunes and Volcanoes

The spectacular landscape that characterises the island is most obvious in this park, which showcases the incredible sand dunes like nowhere else. The dunes are constantly changing and sometimes are very high indeed. There are 11 kilometres of dunes which make for an adventurous walk that the children will love! At the end of the trek you are rewarded with a sparkling blue ocean, perfect for a refreshing dip!

It’s also possible to visit the crater of a volcano on Fuerteventura. While the volcano is extinct it does offer the potential for an interesting day trip; volcanoes were integral to the strange formation of the land on the island. Although there’s no chance of an eruption, it does add to the excitement for families taking the tour.

Perfect Playas

The beaches in the Corralejo Natural Park are some of the finest anywhere on Fuerteventura and they make for a wonderful spot for an afternoon rest and a swim. The sand is fine and white and the water is clear and cool – perfect for a swim after a walk across the desert!

Island Hopping

From one island to another, families can take the fast ferry (which is exciting in itself) over to the protected isle of Lobos. It departs from the park and is the perfect location for an afternoon stroll with the children, exploring the special protected biosphere reserve. There are beaches here too and the sense of isolation that you get adds a spark of adventure for families that love seeing different parts of the world.

How to Get There

If you're hoping to take the hassle out of your holiday, it’s certainly advisable to pre-book airport transfers. Fuerteventura visitors will mostly arrive by air, so it makes good sense to start thinking when you’re still at home about the dull things like airport transfers. Fuerteventura holidays will have you captivated as soon as you arrive and you won’t want to be thinking about logistics when you first land.

The stunning Corralejo Natural Park encapsulates all that is amazing about the natural wonders of Fuerteventura. With so many geographically focussed excursions and activities to do, families are spoilt for choice.
