There are many heroes in the world of bodybuilding and fitness and when it comes to those who have managed to accomplish the most incredible physiques and pull of the most amazing physical feats, there are plenty of legendary characters to choose from. One of the most incredible of all these heroes however is Bruce Lee - a man who managed to develop one of the most ripped physiques on the planet and whose feats of strength were a thing of legend. Here we will look in more detail at some of the triumphs of Bruce Lee so that hopefully you might get some motivation and some inspiration to push yourself that much further.

Bruce Lee's Philosophy and Attitude

For Bruce Lee training was one of the most important focusses of his life. He was reportedly obsessed with getting into the best possible shape and with trying out every new exercise contraption out there in order to build the most powerful muscle he could. Partly he did this in order to be able to better serve his martial arts, but behind both pursuits he also had a clear philosophy seeing the body as an extension of the mind and a way to express oneself. He developed his muscles to become an outward expression of who he was and to be able to react in a split reaction with nothing coming between his thoughts and his movements.

His Accomplishments

The amazing skills that this lead to however are today the thing of legend. One of the most notable feats that Bruce is now known for was his famed one-inch punch which was a punch delivered from only one inch away from han opponent which nevertheless contained enough power to send them flying backwards across the room.

This admittedly was an ability that is as much to do with technique as it is to do with strength (possibly even more of the former), but Bruce could also do many other things that truly were just strength and training. One example was his two finger push up, videos of which scan still be found on YouTube. More impressive still was his ability to hold a 40kg barbell allegedly out in front of himself in an outstretched arm and keep it there for a minute. He was also said to be able to punch a hole in a *full* can of Coca Cola with one finger, and to be able to be able to hold the V-Sit position for over five minutes. His body fat was one of the lowest on record, and his martial arts ability was practically unchallenged.

How He Accomplished It

The main secret to Bruce Lee's achievements was his diehard enthusiasm and commitment. At one point Bruce sustained a spinal injury that doctors told him would prevent him from ever walking again, but he overcame this arguably through his sheer dogged determination (this was *before* he began making films, so it's safe to say it was a full recovery). His other secret was simply to be on the very cusp of training technology, and to be constantly reading up on everything from dynamic tension to static contraction to electric muscle stimulation.
