Having a safe and secure home is of course highly important and something that you should give the utmost consideration and care. It is crucial that you ensure that your home is safe and secure so that you can keep people out who haven't been invited and that way keep safe your family, your possessions and yourself.

Security in the home is not just about having items stolen you see, but also about the threat of having your family attacked, or even of accidents like your children getting out into the road. Thus you need to have considered every aspect of your security and you need to give it the most consideration possible.

But how do you go about accomplishing this? The solution is to ensure that you have thought of each of the crucial *aspects* of home security and that there is no element that you haven't addressed.

This means that first of all you need to ensure that your doors are as sturdy and secure as possible. This means that you need to include not only the most sturdy possible security door that can't be easily broken down, but also that you need to ensure that you have a very good lock on that door - as the door is only as secure as the lock keeping it closed.

Next you need to think about how many levels of security you want with your doors. If you have just one door then that means there is just one barrier to be bypassed. Even if this door is very secure, that's not going to be AS secure as having two doors. Thus consider whether you could also get a security lock for your porch leading up to your front door, or if you could get some doors inside that would be nicely secure.

Next think about the security elements outside. For instance you should invest in a gate or even two sets of gates for your front drive if you want to keep your home safe. Not only does this create yet more barriers which a potential trespasser (or young escapee) has to get past, but it also blocks your home from view so that someone walking past can't see your door and isn't likely to get tempted to try and break in. Again you need to also consider the locks on your gates and look into getting the very best padlocks that can't easily be sawn off etc.

Also important is to consider your walls. Of course you can have the highest and most foreboding gate in the world, but if it is attached to a very low wall on either side then it won't stop anyone from jumping over and getting in. And of course this also applies to your back garden.

Lastly think about other aspects of your security you can add to the basic defenses. For instance; could you benefit from a security alarm? Security cameras? Perhaps some barbed wire? Any of these things can act as failsafes to make it tricky even once someone has found their way in.
