WhatsApp Web Version Available for iPhone Users

iPhone users have a lot to cheer about as Facebook owned whatsapp released the whatsapp web version for the iphone.

Facebook-owned chat messenger WhatsApp has made its web-based offering available to iPhone users. Although WhatsApp Web was launched in January, but iOS users were not able to access the website after the firm declared that the Apple platform has limitations regarding the release.

Following today, the limitations since been lifted. Almost eight months after WhatsApp launched its web client for Android users, WhatApp Web finally arrives for iPhone users. WhatsApp for Web will also work with Safari on the Mac. Regarding mobile device applications, WhatsApp for Web is available for Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, iPhone, Nokia S40 and Nokia S60.

Recently, the service introduced many additional new features for iPhone users, such as the option to mute an individual chat, mark a conversation as read or unread, backup videos locally, and sharing of a user’s location. In addition, features such as auto-loading of older messages was added along with better support for VoiceOver.

Recently, WhatsApp for Web was updated too. Editing of the profile photo along with status message has been enabled. Some UI tweaks have also been included in this update. The Settings option now shows overflow for chats, allowing chats to be deleted or archived at will. In addition, users can also archive, mute and exit group chats.

"Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device. This means all of your messages still live on your phone," WhatsApp explained on the web.

iPhone users seem excited to try out the new client because of the extended wait for Apple users since January. It is, however, worthy to note that the web client is just an extension of the mobile app, so it won't work if the mobile device is not connected to the internet. Also, this feature has not been rolled out to all the users, and will be available in phases over time.

To use this service, one will have to open the WhatsApp Web website, scan the QR code seen on the desktop via the mobile app and use the web app made by the application development company in the US.
