Jeep's newest model, the Renegade, is a subcompact crossover that blends a carlike road presence with rugged off-road capabilities. All Trailhawk models come with Jeep Active Drive Low four-wheel drive, which also has the rear axle disconnect, plus lower gearing that allows for a 20:1 crawl ratio. All models with four-wheel drive also have a Selec-Terrain system that has Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud settings to help maximize traction on various surfaces. The Trailhawk also comes with a Rock mode.

As a modern crossover, the Renegade packs the kind of safety technology car shoppers have grown to expect. The front and seat-mounted side airbags cover the driver and front passenger in an accident, along with the side curtain airbags that also provide coverage for people sitting in the backseat. There's also a knee-bolster airbag for the driver. To help with accident avoidance, Jeep includes anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, panic brake assist, electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation and a tire pressure monitoring display. A rearview camera is standard on all trims but the Sport. Optional driver aids include a blind spot monitoring system, forward collision warning and lane keep assist, guarding even more against the possibility of an accident.

Buyers enjoy a surprisingly generous amount of features with the Jeep Renegade Sport. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels, plus uses halogen headlights and daytime running lamps. A capless fuel filler means drivers never have to worry about forgetting to replace the gas cap. On the interior, the vehicle features cloth upholstery, a 60/40 split-folding backseat and two 12-volt power sockets.

Latitude models add to the standard features with 16-inch aluminum wheels, tinted glass, heated side mirrors and foglights. An optional My Sky roof has dual panels that can be retracted or completely removed for an open-air experience. The Jeep also gains air conditioning, a USB port and ambient interior lighting.

The Trailhawk trim is focused more on off-roading, which is why it features 17-inch aluminum wheels, a black roof and skid plates for the engine, transfer case, transmission and fuel tank. The crossover also comes with some increased comforts, such as premium cloth upholstery, a 115-volt power outlet and a leather-wrapped shifter knob.

With the Limited, Renegade owners enjoy high style and some additional luxuries. The exterior has 18-inch wheels, bright roof rails and a polished exhaust pipe. Among the interior creature comforts is leather upholstery, front seat heaters, dual-zone automatic temperature control, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror and a heated steering wheel.
