Chevrolet Colorado - the Motor Trend 2015 Truck of the Year

Motor Trend annually announces the best vehicles of the world.

Motor Trend annually announces the best vehicles of the world. It looks at all sorts of factors ranging from appearance and performance to dependability, internal design elements, and just about every other characteristic that comes with the vehicle. Due to this, winning the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award is extremely important and is something the manufacturer of the vehicle is able to lay its hat on. This year, the Chevrolet Colorado won the 2015 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.

Now, there are a few requirements a vehicle must meet in order to even be classified as a truck, as there are some vehicles that might not immediately be seen as a truck, but Motor Trend includes in this award.

Motor Trend tends to go towards new designs and alterations to the vehicle, but that is not a staple (just more or less a trend). The Chevrolet Colorado and the Ford F-150 will go head to head again for the North American Truck of the Year.

Every vehicle is tested for hundreds of miles - and in the truck category, it is put through all sorts of different tests, in order to see how it performs in all conditions. Seven different trucks were tested out for this award. Motor Trend looked over the Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD, two different Ford F-150 options, the Ford F-450, the Ford Transit 350 HR and 150 MR, the GMC Canyon SLT and the GMC Sierra Denali 2500 HD.

There are different spec lines for the truck, but the truck tested was the Crew Cab Long Box 4-Wheel Drive Z71. This comes with an automatic transmission, four wheel drive, V6 3.6/217 engine that can produce 305 horsepower and 269 pound feet of torque. It also offers up a nice 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway (some of the two-wheel drive options offer up 20 MPG in the city and 27 on the highway for improved fuel performance).

The maximum trailering capacity for the truck is 3500 pounds and the trailer hitch receiver is an optional addition that is a nice feature for anyone, who is considering towing with the vehicle. The truck also comes with some of the best safety features on the vehicle as well. This includes standard driver, side head, side passenger, and rear head air bags. The 2015 Chevrolet Colorado comes with four-wheel anti-lock brakes and disc brakes, electronic stability control, front tow hooks, daytime running lights and traction control. All of this should perform well for any truck lover, whether this is their first truck or they have been driving trucks for an extended period of time.

The interior of the vehicle comes with all sorts of beneficial design feature as well, ranging from cruise control, fog lamps, navigation from telematics, keyless entry, back-up camera, vehicle anti-theft system, and several other features that has helped set the truck apart from the other trucks out there on the road. It is also straight forward with entertainment, featuring a stereo system, MP3 player, AUX jack input and satellite radio (plus the option for a premium sound system). All of this put together has resulted in the Chevrolet Colorado 2015 Truck of the Year award. Motor Trend sees it as the very best performance truck.
